Mr. Yu has a unique background, with his passion for movies and photography during his days as a student and experience working in the film industry after he graduated. He moved to Japan from Taiwan and joined Tajima Industries at the age of 29.
A member of the Marketing Division, Mr. Yu is in charge of expanding sales for Tajima’s “DG.NET,” a service that helps customers automate production and create personalized embroidery. His task is to take this service, which addresses the desire for individuality through customized embroidery. He approaches his work with this mission in mind.
Moving to Japan After Working in Taiwan’s Film Industry

As a student, Mr. Yu, who was born in Taiwan, was engrossed in movies and photography. He majored in Mass Communications at university and began working in the film industry after graduating. Having gained experience at several different companies, he went to Australia to study English. He then began living in Japan at the age of 28, attending a language school. He began his job search, and in the course interviewing with various companies, one company that he found attractive was Tajima Industries.
When he joined the company in 2015, he was assigned to the Sales Solution Section within the Marketing Division. There, he worked with software used in creating embroidery designs.
He dealt with issues while interacting with Pulse, a Canadian software development company. Notably, in August 2022, Pulse became part of the Tajima Group under the name TSoft (Tajima Software Solutions, Inc.).

Achieving Personalized Embroidery
Mr. Yu’s job in the Sales Solutions Section involved working with software. In the beginning, though, he knew very little about IT, and so he had to start from scratch. He says of this situation, “At first, I didn’t understand the technical terms that came up in conversations with customers, and I wondered what I was supposed to do. I looked up the words that I didn’t understand, and while receiving guidance from my superiors and senior employees, I gradually acquired IT knowledge.” As a result of these efforts, he was able to engage in specialized professional discussions with developers.
Mr. Yu is currently working on expanding sales of “DG.NET,” a service that helps customers automate production and create personalized embroidery. The DG.NET service automates embroidery operations, enabling apparel companies and other entities to include high value-added embroidery services. It is drawing interest both in Japan and internationally as a system that enables personalization (optimization based on the customer’s needs) of embroidery.

Customer Feedback Leads to Improvements
DG.NET has steadily made gains in the European and American markets that recently have been seeing increased demand for personalized embroidery. We are expanding the scope of the software provided by the Tajima Group and distributing it globally. One element of this effort involves Mr. Yu’s mission of expanding sales in the Asian market. Another important role he performs is in communicating customers’ requests to TSoft and promote improvements in the system. “Since customer requirements in Europe and the U.S. differ from our Asian customers’ needs, we need to effectively communicate what sorts of functions they seek.” The work done by Mr. Yu and his colleagues is paying off, as recognition of the DG.NET name continues to increase in the Asian market. The global market’s potential is there, and as we look ahead, we see huge opportunities opening up.
