“A really exciting company.” This is how Mr. Sato describes the Tajima Group. Communicating with Tajima America Corporation’s base in Los Angeles, he conducts sales activities throughout the vast North and South American markets. Here we look at how he approaches his work at the embroidery machine manufacturer aiming to be the best in the world.

Joy of Connecting with People Beyond Borders

“The moment that has left the deepest impression on me was when I went to Turkey on my first overseas business trip after joining the company,” says Sato. He was very excited to meet people who were using Tajima embroidery machines and getting to hear their opinions on site and in person. What made such an impression was the distributor’s representative affectionately calling him “brother.” He was so glad at being able to transcend nationalities and communicate with each other.

As a university student, Mr. Sato spent time studying abroad in the United States. Upon joining the company, he leveraged the English skills he had developed and took responsibility for sales in the Middle Eastern market, focusing primarily on Turkey and Egypt. Later, due to his high marks in work style and communication skills, he was put in charge of the larger North and South American markets.

Considering Strategies Country by Country

Tajima America, the Tajima Group’s base for the U.S. market, is located in Los Angeles. Mr. Sato’s main job presently is to communicate with that base. He responds to requests from distributors in North and South America while coordinating with the manufacturing plants and the development, quality control, and technology management departments in Japan. “My daily work involves planning visits to distributors and customers overseas and implementing steps for improvements in each market,” says Mr. Sato.

His satisfaction comes from working on a scale that contributes to the company’s future. Setting targets on a country-by-country basis, he develops strategies for customer satisfaction, a responsibility he finds significant. Mr. Sato adds, “I also have the opportunity to participate in new product development projects. It’s rewarding to think that my efforts enhance Tajima’s reputation in those countries and continents. ”

Aiming to Be Posted at a Branch Overseas

“In a word, this company is truly exciting” Sato says. Continuing, he says, “my motivation lies in the high quality machines that we take pride embroidery machine manufacturer aiming to be the best in the world. We offer it to our customers with confidence that it is a good embroidery machine. I’m thrilled that we have the ability to provide solutions to our customers’ problem.” Mr. Sato hopes to be posted to a branch overseas at some point. To realize this dream, he diligently works on developing his own capabilities while focusing his energies on studying accounting and management. Although he enjoys his current job, his aspiration is to derive even greater enjoyment from it in the future. He continues to move forward, envisioning that encouraging image.
