Mina Mitsuya works in both Corporate Planning and Marketing, supporting a variety of projects.
She finds it highly rewarding to share messages and communicate the company’s value to those on the outside. One of her goals is to foster a corporate culture that encourages diverse opinions and ideas—a place where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive and contribute meaningfully. Her passion for sharing the Tajima Group’s vision will continue as the company evolves with a forward-looking approach.
Taking Up Another Career Challenge
Having previously worked in a jewelry company, Mitsuya gained experience across multiple departments, primarily focusing on administrative roles. She joined the Tajima Group to leverage that experience and seek further growth opportunities.
Reflecting on her transition, she recalls, “I couldn’t decide to switch jobs right after having a baby, but as my child grew, I began to feel a desire to take on new challenges.”
Currently, her work spans two areas of expertise: Corporate Planning and Marketing. In the Corporate Planning Office, she is responsible for a variety of tasks, including budget preparation, communication at board meetings, and creating materials for the President’s business trips. She is also involved in public relations work, delivering presentations at events and making media appearances. Her responsibilities in the Marketing Department are equally diverse; she oversees the creation and management of owned media, the production of branding videos, and even publishes articles in industry magazines, along with planning exhibitions.
The Road to Reform
The Tajima Group has consistently maintained sales of embroidery machines through its network of sales agents. While continuing this traditional sales approach, the company is also focused on creating synergies through collaborations with various brands. Additionally, there are increasing opportunities to directly share the results of these collaborations via owned media and other channels. However, when considering the industry as a whole, the dissemination of information is still not well advanced.
To foster new ventures while respecting industry traditions and maintaining strong relationships with sales agents, it is essential to approach challenges with a readiness to embrace change. She states, “Our president advocates for change and reform, and we, as employees, are also receptive to new ideas. I hope that this mindset of embracing change will be shared across the entire company, helping us better clarify and communicate the Tajima Group’s significance and our role within it.” Furthermore, in her marketing role, Mitsuya aims to contribute to the creation of new markets. “We connect with our customers by understanding their needs and developing the necessary products and services. I believe that’s the essence of effective marketing, and I’m determined to do my best,” she says enthusiastically.
A Job That Values Women’s Perspectives and Sensibilities
To broaden the appeal of embroidery and explore new market opportunities, creating a corporate culture that embraces diverse ideas and perspectives is essential. Mitsuya believes that businesses should harness the strengths of a diverse workforce, regardless of gender. She states, “The embroidery industry is closely linked to apparel companies and brands. I believe that women’s perspectives and sensibilities will be key to expanding the reach of embroidery, and I see increasing opportunities for women to take on active roles.”
In Japanese society, progress in creating a supportive work environment for women has been limited. Therefore, promoting the utilization of human resources, regardless of gender or background, is a crucial mission for companies.
Mitsuya says, “My life’s goal is to help build a society where anyone, including women—especially mothers—can work whenever they choose. I believe that as the Tajima Group continues to offer this kind of environment, public awareness will gradually shift.”
To get closer to the future she envisions, Mitsuya continues to pursue her own potential while enhancing her skills in different fields.
